Events calendar 2010

2010 is the jubilee year for our museum. A lot of different holidays and festivals will be held this year on the Kulikovo field such as acts of charity, sports competitions, military actions, and craft fairs.

Interregional military-sporty game “quick march “the Kulikovo Field”
February, 18.
An interregional military-sporty game will be held in 11th time and it is devoted to 630 anniversary of the Kulikovo battle and 65 anniversary of World War 2 victory. That day youth will gather together on the First Russian Battlefield to “cross swords” not only in shooting from a rifle and working with metal detector, but also in quick march on 10 kilometers and knowledge of history.

All-Russian action of memory “the Green Oak’s Wood”
April, 15 – May, 9
The All-Russian action of memory is held under the motto “I do remember! I do proud” and has a charitable character. Charity Action will be held to perpetuate those warriors who died in battles for the Motherland at all times.
The first time act of charity was held in May, 2005 and was blessed by Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Aleksiy II.
Hundreds of guests visit the Kulikovo Field annually and take part in all-Russian action of memory “the Green Oak’s Wood”. Information about participants will be placed at the official web-site of the State Museum of Military History and Natural Preserve “The Kulikovo Field”.

The National Traditions festival will be held to open the new touristic season on the Kulikovo Field.

Bard Song Festival “Kulikovo Polye”
May 28-30
Bards song festival “the Kulikovo Field” will be held in the 10th time. Our festival is habituated to a memory day of the Blessed Grand prince of Moscow Dmitry Donskoy.
People of different ages, professions and Hundreds of authors and singers will come together to have rest, to sing songs, to have a heart talk with friends.

Russia day on “the Kulikovo Field”
June, 12
Russian Day is one of the most important holidays in Russian Federation – the holiday of a freedom, of a civil peace and kind agreement of all people on the basis of law and justice. This Holiday is a symbol of national unification and general responsibility for future and present. On June, 12 1990, the Russian parliament formally declared its sovereignty from the Soviet Union and the new period of Russian history had begun.
On September 8th, 1380 Dmitry Donskoy's army gains the victory over Mamai, who was a Mongolian leader. The great battle took place on the Kulikovo field.
From this point the new period of Russian history had begun, the period of unification different separated princedoms under the name of what we call Russia today. That’s why we celebrate this holiday on the “Kulikovo Field”.

Provincial Craft Fair in Epifan village
August, 14
Epifan is an ancient Russian town. It was founded in1571 on the banks of the Don River. Comfortable location on the crossing of roads and waterway, largely determined town’s future as a trade center. In the 19th century crafts fairs were held in Epifan village thrice a year. Keeping tradition up, the State Museum of Military History and Natural Preserve “The Kulikovo Field” arranges the crafts fair once a year in August.
On the Epifan’s Fair you have an opportunity to see a lot of craftsmen, farmers and creative groups. Potters and smiths will create their masterpieces right on your eyes. If you want to purchase their handicrafts or souvenirs from all over Russia, then you need to visit our Fair August 14, 2010.

630 anniversary of the Kulikovo Battle
September, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21
Celebrating of Kulikovo battle Anniversary will start from the history festival on September, 16. Delegations of military and historical reenactment will gather together on the Don River not far from Tatinki village. In former times Russia and the Golden Horde fought against each other, but today, both countries’ warriors will forget about their difference and live together in one camp in peace and harmony. All who wishes have an opportunity to visit this camp on September, 16-17.
The most expected event in the Kulikovo Field’s life will be on September, 18. Annually Kulikovo field becomes the center of Russian glory celebrations, devoted to Kulikovo battle. That day, visitors have an extraordinary opportunity, to see about one thousand members of Medieval Reenactors’ groups. They will performance the spectacular and thrilling show, using reconstructed medieval armory. It is the largest medieval reenactment performance in Russia and it is really worth to be seen.
