February 27-28, 2010 the fifth international conference “Problems of organization and holding military-history festivals” will be held in Yasnaya Polyana.

Conference is organized by the State Museum Preserve “the Kulikovo Field” together with urban youth club of historical reconstruction and fencing, and it holds within the scope of preparation and conduction of the 14th international military-history festival “ The Kulikovo Field” and festive celebrations devoted to 360 anniversary of the Kulikovo battle.

Application forms for participation were sent by more than 200 military-history clubs of medieval direction from Russia and Ukraine. Among participants of forum are famous leaders of modern military-history movement from such clubs as: “Svarga” (Tula), “Vityaz” (Kazan), “Sharukhan” (Kharkov), “Polovtsian steppe” (Astrakhan), “Vladichniy styag” (Novgorod), “Zaseka” (Penza), “Knight lance” (Raduzhniy), “Pleskov grad” (Pskov), “Ljudinskaya sotnya” (Vyborg and St Petersburg), “World of Masters” (Samara) and many others.

Today military-history movements of medieval reconstruction are a powerful factor of patriotic education of modern youth in Russia. One of the major activities in this sphere became the International military-history festival “The Kulikovo Field”, which traditionally will be held on shores of the Don and Nepriadva rivers in September this year. Problems and questions of organization of the festival will be discussed in the end of February in Tula.

One of the major issues of the conference is the new festival program, which organizers chose in the last year. Within the celebration of 629 anniversary of the Kulikovo Battle for the first time on the military-history festival worked several grounds of interest, such as crafts fair, equestrian competitions, war games, contests of history reconstruction and dances and many others. Expansion of program has the goal to increase the number of participants and tourists.

Another important aspect of the conference is to discuss the new elements of a script for the demonstration of field battle on the anniversary of the Kulikovo Battle, appearance of new elements medieval battles, improvement of the whole action.

In the program of the second day will be a visit to the museum-estate “Yasnaya Polyana”, discussing and adoption of an outcome document of the forum.
