Cross-Engolpion

Description:
inner leaf of the cross. Four-point, eight angled in the center with rounded ends. Elijah with the rotulus in his left hand is in the center.  Images of Saints are on the side ends as well as on the upper and lower ends. Fastenings are on upper and lower end of the cross.
Preservation: part of the intact item, complete by the form, upper part of an eye was partly lost. Worn spots, scratches, patina surface.  
Legend: accidental find in the Kulikovo field area. It was given to the Museum-Reserve “The Kulikovo battle” in 1998.




Cross-Engolpion

Dating: 13th century

Description:
obverse leaf of the cross.  Four-point, acute angle in the center, with widening ends. Christ in the tomb is in the middle, images of Mother of God and John are in the sides, Archangel is in the bottom.
Preservation: part of the whole item, complete by the form, patina surface.
Legend: accidental find in the Kulikovo field area. It was given to the Museum-Reserve “The Kulikovo Field” in 1998.




Spear head

Description:
A part of a pole weapon, thrust type. Oviform, oblong form, hunting type, flat with a distinct edge in the center of the body.  Type 4A by A. Medvedev.

Preservation:
Complete by the form, surface is damaged by corrosion.

Restoration: V. Shmelev 2005

Legend: Relic of the Kulikovo battle. It was found in the Kulikovo Filed area in 1979 by Tula worker A. Gladishev.

Preservation: Not complete by the form, tenons and sides of bush were partly lost, surface is damaged by corrosion.

Icon-Engolpion “Epiphany”(reverse leaf)

Dating: 14th century

Material: nonferrous metal

Technology: molding

Sizes: 6,4х4,1 (5,1х4,1) centimeters

Place, date and archeologist who made the find: Tula region, Kulikovo field area, second half of the 20th century.

Description: leaf of the icon is right-angled, mounted with thin fence. On the upper edge there are two diametrical eyes with round holes. On the lower edge only one partly lost eye. Over lower eye is a rivet (traces of repair). Image of Epiphany is on the leaf.  The naked figure of Christ is in the center. St. John the Precurse  with a rod in his hand is to the left of Christ  , two angels are to the right.  Casting is very delicate.

Preservation: Not complete by the form.  The obverse part was lost. Lower eye was partly lost. Traces of repair. Image is rubbed, scratched, patinas.

Analogs: Component part of a typical ancient Russian battle weapon.  Part of pole weapon of thrust-cutting type.  Socketed, the body is narrow, elongate, triangular in shape, with sloping shoulders. Type 3 by A.  Kirpichnikov and A. Medvedev.

Preservation: Complete by the form, the surface is corroded.

Legend: Godsend was made in 1980th on the territory of the Kulikovo filed.

Analogs:  Component part of a typical battle weapon of ancient Russia. A part of a hand missile weapon - arrow. Petiolar, the body is elongate, triangular in shape, with a support for a pole.  A handle is round in section; the body is oval-diamond shape. Type 40 by A. Medvedev.

Preservation: Not complete by the form. The surface is corroded. The loss is by the borders of body.

Preservation: Complete by the form.

Period: Ancient Rus (14-14th centuries)

Sizes: 9,3х6,8, thickness-0,4 centimeters

Description: Four side leaf, reverse with rounded ends with drops looking ends. Borders of the leaf are set off with slanting cuts. On upper and lower ends are double eyes. In the middle Mother of God with the infant in the left hand is in the middle. Images of saints are on the sides. Reverse side with high borders is not shaped.

Preservation: Patina, worn spots, corrosion, dirty surface.

Legend:  It was found in 1976 in the Red hill area.
